We've all probably worked with someone who believes everything was better back in the day.

No computers, no complicated software, no passwords to remember, and certainly no updates showing up right when you're trying to get something done.

And to be fair, I can understand some of the frustration. Technology doesn't always make our jobs easier, especially when something decides to stop working five minutes before class starts.

But sometimes the problem isn't actually the technology.

In this episode of Bear With Me, we're introducing Ms. Tenure, an experienced educator who has spent 32 years in the classroom and has absolutely no problem reminding everyone about it.

Ms. Tenure is convinced that technology is ruining education. She misses the days of chalkboards, textbooks, and doing things the old-fashioned way.

Unfortunately, her latest argument against modern technology begins with a computer that won't turn on.

Commander Kuma, being his usual calm and observant self, decides to investigate.

Let's just say the problem wasn't quite as complicated as Ms. Tenure thought.

Sometimes the simplest solution is the one we overlook.

I wanted this comic to have a little fun with something many educators encounter. Schools are constantly introducing new technology, platforms, and systems, and not everyone is excited about those changes.

Personally, I think there's value in both traditional teaching methods and modern technology. A good lesson doesn't suddenly become better just because we're using a computer, and an older teaching strategy isn't automatically ineffective because it's been around for decades.

What matters is whether the approach actually helps students learn.

Of course, it also helps when the computer is plugged in.

Anyway, I hope this episode gives you a laugh. I'm planning to feature Ms. Tenure in more Bear With Me comics because I think she'll make an interesting addition to Commander Kuma's world.

After all, every workplace seems to have at least one person who's convinced they've seen it all.

What about you? Have you ever spent ages troubleshooting a technology problem only to discover the solution was ridiculously simple?

Bear With Me is an original comic series from New To Education, exploring the everyday experiences, personalities, frustrations, and occasional absurdities of working in education.
