China is expanding artificial intelligence education across primary schools, secondary schools, universities, vocational education, teacher training, and lifelong learning as its national “AI + Education” strategy moves into implementation.


China is moving artificial intelligence education from isolated experiments toward a much broader part of mainstream schooling.

As the new academic year begins, schools, universities, and vocational institutions across the country are implementing elements of China’s national “Artificial Intelligence + Education” Action Plan, a strategy designed to expand AI literacy, AI-supported learning, teacher development, workforce preparation, and intelligent education systems across multiple stages of education.

China’s five-agency “Artificial Intelligence + Education” Action Plan was formally issued in April 2026.

The plan calls for artificial intelligence to become part of the broader education system rather than remain concentrated in computer science and specialist technology programs.
