Somewhere in the world right now, a tutor is hearing the phrase:
“Sorry, my internet stopped working.”
And somewhere else in that same exact moment… the student is somehow still winning matches online.
Welcome to Bear With Me Issue #13: Victory Royale.
This issue was inspired by one of the greatest mysteries in modern education: how online games seem to survive every internet outage known to humanity.
Microphone broken?
Camera frozen?
Homework missing?
Class disconnected?
Understandable.
But somehow Fortnite is still running at maximum performance with zero lag.
Commander Kuma has seen this before. Many times.
In this issue, Kuma does what every exhausted educator eventually learns to do: stop arguing with the excuse and simply observe the evidence. Calmly. Silently. With coffee.
A lot of people think online tutoring is just sitting at a laptop and teaching lessons, but honestly, sometimes it feels more like:
tech support
detective work
emotional damage control
and hostage negotiations with Wi-Fi
The funniest part is that most tutors and teachers already know when students are making excuses. They just choose professionalism over chaos.
That is basically Commander Kuma’s entire personality.
No yelling.
No dramatic speeches.
Just disappointment… and caffeine.
The reality is that online learning comes with distractions everywhere. Games, notifications, social media, group chats, random tabs open in the background students today are balancing a lot, even if some of those balances involve trying to hide a Victory Royale during tutoring.
Still, moments like these are part of what make online education memorable. Sometimes you just have to laugh and continue teaching.
Or sip coffee while silently judging the situation.
Probably both.
